NEAR & DEAR / BY ZARZARA

Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 30, 2026
In short

Your dates, notes, photos, and widget designs stay on your device. Near & Dear has no account and no Zarzara server. The free plan shows Google AdMob ads, and subscriptions are processed by Apple or Google through RevenueCat. Those services receive limited data, explained below.

1. Who we are

Near & Dear is a countdown app for iPhone and Android, made by Zarzara (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information the app handles, where it goes, and the choices you have. Contact us at support@zarzara.app.

2. Information stored on your device

The dates you add, including names, dates, categories, repeat settings, reminder windows, and pinned or completed status. It also stores the keepsakes you attach to a date (gift ideas, notes, and photos), your widget designs and background photos, and your app settings.

This information is saved locally on your device. We do not operate an account system or a cloud database for Near & Dear, and we cannot see, access, or recover your dates.

Photos you choose are selected through your device’s photo picker and copied into the app’s private storage. The app only receives the photos you pick, not your whole library.

3. Widgets and notifications

To show countdowns on your Home Screen and Lock Screen, the app shares the upcoming dates it needs with its own widgets on the same device (on iPhone through a private App Group). This data does not leave your device.

The optional morning notification is created and scheduled on your device. Its content is not sent to us.

4. Device backups

Your operating system may include app data in device backups, such as iCloud Backup or Google’s Android backup, depending on your device settings. These backups are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies. On Android, widget photos and private keepsake photos are excluded from cloud backup and device-to-device transfer.

5. Sharing, import, and export

When you share a date or export a collection, the app creates a file and hands it to your device’s share sheet. You choose where it goes, and the receiving app or person handles it under their own terms. Private keepsake notes and photos are not included when you share a date.

Files you import are read on your device and are not uploaded to us.

6. Advertising (free plan)

Without Near & Dear Plus, the app shows ads provided by Google AdMob. You can watch an optional rewarded ad to add one date beyond the free limit, and a closable ad may appear after you mark a date as done.

To deliver ads, measure them, and prevent fraud, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect information such as your IP address, device and app information, advertising or app-instance identifiers, ad interactions, and diagnostic data. Your dates, notes, and photos are never shared with advertisers.

Where required, for example in the European Economic Area, the UK, and Switzerland, the app asks for your consent through Google’s consent message before requesting ads. You can change your choices at any time from “Ad privacy choices” in Settings when that option is offered. On iPhone, the app does not ask for permission to track you across other companies’ apps and websites.

Near & Dear Plus subscribers don’t see ads, and the app does not request ads for them.

7. Subscriptions and purchases

Near & Dear Plus is purchased through the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google processes your payment; we never receive your card details or store account password.

We use RevenueCat to verify purchases and manage your subscription status. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID, purchase and subscription details (such as product, price, currency, dates, and store transaction identifiers), and basic device and app information. It is not linked to your name or email by us.

8. What we don’t do

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use analytics or tracking SDKs to monitor how you use the app. We do not read the content of your dates, keepsakes, or photos.

9. Retention and deletion

Your data stays on your device until you delete it. You can edit or delete any date or keepsake in the app. Uninstalling Near & Dear removes its local data from your device, except for copies in backups or files you exported yourself.

Ad and purchase data held by Google, Apple, and RevenueCat is kept according to their policies. To ask us about subscription records held by RevenueCat on our behalf, contact support@zarzara.app.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal information, to object to processing, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Because most Near & Dear data never leaves your device, you control it directly in the app. For anything else, email support@zarzara.app.

11. Children

Near & Dear is not directed at children under 13, or the minimum age required in your country, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app or its data handling changes. The effective date at the top shows the current version. We will communicate material changes as required by applicable law.
