Overview
SnipCompare runs locally on your device to capture screenshots, perform OCR, and compare text. By default, SnipCompare does not collect, transmit, or store your screenshot, image, or OCR content on our servers. Core processing happens on your device.
Data Processed by SnipCompare
SnipCompare may process:
- Screenshots you capture.
- Images you import.
- OCR text extracted from those images.
- Comparison results generated from OCR text.
- Files or exports you choose to save.
This data is processed locally and is stored only where you choose to save it.
Microsoft Store Purchases and Licensing
SnipCompare uses Microsoft Store services to process purchases, subscriptions, trials, promotions, and license verification. Payment, billing, subscription renewal, and Microsoft account information are handled by Microsoft, not by SnipCompare.
SnipCompare may receive license-related status from Microsoft Store, such as whether a lifetime license, subscription, or trial is active; relevant Store product or SKU identifiers; license expiration dates; and purchase results. SnipCompare does not receive or store your payment card information.
Local License Cache
SnipCompare may store a local license cache on your device so the app can continue working temporarily if Microsoft Store license verification is unavailable. This cache may contain entitlement status, license type, expiration or check timestamps, and related Microsoft Store identifiers. It is stored locally on your device.
Diagnostics and Support
SnipCompare can generate license diagnostics to help troubleshoot Microsoft Store licensing issues. These diagnostics may include package version, Store product IDs, SKU IDs, entitlement state, expiration dates, purchase status, and redacted Store license metadata fingerprints.
Raw Microsoft Store ExtendedJsonData and tokens are redacted. Diagnostics are not sent automatically. They are shared with support only if you choose to copy or send them.
Internet Connectivity
SnipCompare does not require an internet connection for core screenshot, OCR, and comparison features. Internet access may be required for Microsoft Store purchase, subscription, trial, promotion, and license verification features.
Third-Party Components
SnipCompare uses third-party libraries, including Tesseract, Leptonica, DiffPlex, and AForge.NET. These components run locally as part of the application and do not transmit your screenshot, image, or OCR content to third parties.
Your Choices
You control whether to save, export, copy, or delete files generated by SnipCompare. You may uninstall SnipCompare at any time. You may also choose whether to send diagnostics or support information to us.
Children's Privacy
SnipCompare is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy if SnipCompare adds new features, changes how licensing or diagnostics work, or introduces optional online services. Updated versions will be posted with a revised effective date.
